Tour route:
From Compatsch (1844 m) walk to the right at the information board and follow path no. 7 towards Almgasthof Panorama (2014 m). When you reach the col, you have a clear view of the peaks Schlern, Langkofel and Plattkofel.
The path (no. 2) now leads over extensive flower meadows towards Hotel Goldknopf. Soon afterwards a quite demanding hike begins: The narrow path winds up through rubble heaps in countless serpentines. The bizarre teeth of the peak Rosszähne are becoming ever more striking.
At the highest point, the Rosszähnscharte (2500 m), you walk through the ridge of the Rosszähne, turn right and soon come to the lodge Tierser-Alpl-Hütte (2440 m). Continue on path No. 4 down to Mahlknechtjoch (2168 m) and then on the charming border path “Schneid” continue on path no. 4 in a long high-altitude hike eastward.
The Schneid represents the provincial border with Trentino and the language border with Ladin. After a slight up and down, you reach the Plattkofelhütte on Fassajoch, a private shelter which is open during the summer months (2300 m). Then you take a leisurely walk down to Saltria in the heart of the Seiser Alm (1675 m). From there you may return to Seis by bus.
