Tour route:
From the village center we walk a short distance along the provincial road that leads into Grödnertal. Soon after the schoolhouse we branch off to the right and hike up the street through meadows to this wonderfully situated group of farms, called Tiosels.
The path leads past the sports field and then plunges into the nearby forest. Nearby, hidden in the forest and not easy to find, are the two so-called “Witch Chairs”. These are two armchair-shaped stone blocks. Whether of prehistoric importance, as some claim, or simply a game of nature – we cannot say for sure.
From Tiosels, path no. 8 leads through the forest, always uphill. We are on the slope of Mount Puflatsch (2174 m). First, we reach the sheepfold, a popular destination for many hikers. From here the path takes us over a short, flat surface into the rather steep ascent to Mount Puflatsch.
We have reached the top at Dosserschwaige, and the path leads over to the lodge Arnikahütte (tavern). From the lodge Arnikahütte branching northwards we come out to the Gollerkreuz, to the Witch Chairs and eastwards over the ridge to the summit of Mount Puflatsch, from where you may enjoy a uniquely gorgeous view.
